The tour is guided in English and covers a great deal of the island, making significant stops throughout the day. Included will be a visit to the famous Monastery of Kechrovounie, with its elegant bell tower, 10th Century Icons, and fortified design and architecture. The tour will pass by the ancient Venetian fortifications of Exobourgo, stop at the old village of Volax, with its marvelous architecture and the old basket weavers, then continue on through some of the most beautiful countryside, dotted with endless rock walls and beautiful white dovecotes.
A stop at the Village of Loutra will include a visit to two wonderful museums. First is the visit to the Jesuit Folklore Museum which houses a collection of wonderful artifacts depicting life and work on Tinos for the past few centuries. In the same small village, we will visit the Ursuline Convent, which has been fully restored and depicts life at the private school since its inception in 1862. Before visiting the largest village on the island, Pirgos, with its many marble workshops, beautiful architecture, village square and marble walkways, we will drive down to the Port of Panormos, where you can take your lunch on the harbor and swim at one of the nearby beaches.
Afterward, the visit to Pirgos will also allow time for an after-lunch coffee in the shaded square, as well as a visit to the new Pirgos Museum of Marble Crafts. Returning to town, there will be a stop at the Valley of the Dovecotes, with ample opportunity for photos.
Other languages available, including Greek and German. Modest clothing is required for the Monastery visit; long trousers for men, and slacks or skirts for women. Lunch is not included in the Tour.
